What is Bonded Storage?

Bonded storage allows alcohol such as wine, beer, and spirits to be stored in an HMRC approved warehouse’s without paying alcohol duty upfront. Luckily this is something we are now fully licensed to do.

In practice this means that instead of paying duty when goods arrive in the UK, the duty is suspended while the stock remains in the bonded warehouse.

Duty only becomes payable when the goods are released for sale within the UK market.

If goods are exported internationally, duty may not be payable at all!

How Bonded Storage Works

The process is straightforward.

1️⃣ Alcohol is imported into the UK; Stock arrives and is placed directly into the bonded area of the warehouse.

2️⃣ You pay the Duty when you are ready to sell the products

3️⃣ Once Duty is paid orders are processed. Products can be picked, packed and distributed.

Duty is only paid when goods are released for the UK market. If products are exported internationally, UK duty may not apply.
