70 years of History

Guy Morrison & Smith Ltd was formed in 1948 as a case-making and export packing service - the docks were nearby - primarily serving the electrical industry, but also packing fine arts and antique furniture. Based in Southwark our major clients were Morphy Richards and Russell Hobbs for whom we packed and dispatched white goods worldwide.

London's docks were a major world transport hub and as the area evolved, so did our business. In the early 1960’s the company became Guy Morrison Ltd and new opportunities were realized in the form of dispatching point of sale material and advertising materials.

GEC, Brown & Polson, Ross Foods, Knorr, Outspan, Cape Fruit, Minerva, The Electricity Council and The Russian Trade Delegation were major clients for whom we dispatched POS but other clients required more bespoke services.

In the 1970’s we began a long lasting affiliation with Mirror Group Newspapers, handling their competitions via our PO Box addresses, and on-site promotions - whatever form they took, even a giant teddy bear!

Product and brand launches were regular work for us by then,
and we also began to handle our clients' exhibitions; storing,
delivering and constructing stands for Thorn Electrical, Toshiba, CMA (German Foods) and British Leyland.

Since the 1980's, business has evolved and our industry has changed hugely to incorporate digital media – a long way from our original guise as export packers.

During the 1990’s we developed our offices and became more involved in project management - providing an agency-style service, while retaining our core offering of storage and distribution. We now manage projects and support events for household-name brands, as well as acting as their archive hub and distribution centre.

Through continual investment in technology and facilities, we innovate and offer improved benefit to clients to keep their campaigns fresh and contemporary.

Despite these generational changes one crucial aspect remains unaltered; our ethos. Emphasis is on service. We go further than our competitors to get the job done and are proud of our reputation for diligence and common sense. Find out more here.
